Should we join this???

Hello everyone, Its Claire here - now living in Quebec, Canada. I will start work full-time for the youth network very soon once I have moved into my new appartment.I have discovered GYAN - the Global Youth Action Network. I would like to propose our network affiliates to it.http://www.youthlink.org/ It links youth projects around the world and provides a forum to share ideas / make contacts. They are one of the key partners of TakingITGlobal. http://www.takingitglobal.org/TakingITGlobal has almost 100,000 young members.

Action Plan Youth Representative 2005-2007

Hello everyone...My name is Juan Carlos Mejía C., from Colombia  and I am the one elected to be the Youth Representative on the ICA board for the period 2005-2007. As you may have already heard, we had a very successful conference in Cartagena, in terms of discussions, progress in the conception of the youth network, relationships and projects regarding the youth network. We also had our first democratic election of the Youth Representative on the ICA Board among three representatives from Canada Singapore and Colombia. However, this election is pending on the full allocation of the resources needed to attend all board and youth  meetings. If this doesn't happen, the representation would be on Francois Talbot from Canada, the second person in votes.

ICA Youth and your vision ...

Hi all, my name Suroto, I come from Indonesia, my organization at .www.koperasi-soedirman/leppek.html ..I just want to propose ..how if  all of the candidates of ICA Youth President give their vision to our community here. Actualy, i want to know of you Francois Talbot and Say Hong?.  What is your vision to change the policy of co-operative (ICA) concern to the youth ?? And who is the youth in your perspective ? Suroto/Kakaroto

New Youth Representative

As you know i'm stepping down from the ICA Board this September and there are going to be elections to decide who will take over.  Because you are going to have to be electing people who you may not have met before i thought it would help if you could get some background on them before Cartagena.  The two people who have so far confirmed they are standing are Francois Talbot from Canada and Teo Say Hong from Singapore and they will be posting short passages about themselves at some point soon.

Arrivée sur le ouaibe...

Well, even if my subject is in french, I suppose I'll have to conform to the majority's language. I just want to introduce myself if I can be useful in a way to one of you in the future. I'm involved in the fédération des coopératives québécoises en milieu scolaire as member of the board - www.coopsco.com- (that is basically school coops, there are over 60 in Quebec with a membership of 300 000 members).

Marketing the co-operative message to a youth audience

Hi, my name is Graham.

I'm not a 'youth' anymore, but I work for Co-operatives UK, and I've been helping Jo to get this site up and running. Jo has also said it is OK for me to raise the following question to the participants of the ICA Youth Network, in the hope that it will spark off a useful debate, and generate some creative thinking.

From where I stand, I can clearly see that co-operative values and principles are highly relevant to today's world, that co-operation really chimes in well with what I see as a growing interest in all things ethical. I'm talking about organics, fairtrade, trade justice, socially responsible business, etc. Can the co-operative movement more effectively reach out to the 16-25 year old market with the sort of campaigning message that these young people, from across the world, can tune into, and get behind? Of course I might be wrong in thinking that the co-operative movement needs to do this sort of work. Perhaps co-operatives are already extremely cool (or is it hot?), and we don't need to do anything to raise awareness within this younger audience. My sense is that this is not the case, and that we are missing a trick.
